Our Story

My name is Torsten Yahr, a well rounded chef. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 4 years old. Growing up with diabetes my food options were limited to say the least, and mostly un enjoyable. At 12 years old I was diagnosed with celiac disease, furthering my limitations on food I could eat and enjoy. In high school I realized there was more to food after discovering some gluten free recipes online. As soon as I got a good taste of real food that was friendly to my body, my passion for cooking exploded exponentially. I decided to point my life in the direction of cooking great food. This passion led me into some prestigious kitchens around Southern California, where I gathered skills and knowledge needed to further my goal. I realized how unhappy I was when going out to eat, or eating at a catered party, due to the lack of options available for me. This is why Cosmic Catering exists today.
